Beauty School Supplies

To me, September is an in-between month. It’s not the hot summer, and it’s not quite fall yet. There aren’t really any holidays to celebrate, so gift giving should pretty much be reserved until the winter holidays. So what really happens in September that’s worth while anyway? Well, if you think back to your childhood, September was a monumental month. It meant that summer was over, and yes, gasp, it was time for school to start up again. And what did that mean to you? Meeting up with the friends you missed all summer, worrying about what teachers you would have, and the best of all…back to school shopping!

Back to school shopping was always exciting for me. Yes, it meant that my summer freedom was coming to an end, but it also meant fun new supplies that I had all year to use up. Back to school shopping was one of the first experiences I had buying what I wanted, based on color, texture, and my own ‘style’. And this got me thinking…back to school shopping is very similar to cosmetic shopping. You can choose what colors you would like to wear on your eyes or lips just as easily as you used to buy colored folders or gel pens. Going shopping for what suits your inner student is also similar to shopping for a lipstick…it’s all about what suits your needs, and what you like because it’s something you’re going to have to look at for a while. But unless you’re still in school, or have kids that are, those days are over. So instead of going to your local Office Max this September, I was inspired to write how you can still get that back-to-school feeling, minus the reams of construction paper. Have fun… you don’t even have to study!

1. Hard Candy Glitter Eye Pencil $14.50

If you were like me, one of my favorite things about school was the new box of crayons. They were sharp, new, and in every color imaginable. I remember one year I went to go buy my regular box of 64, and I saw that they had added glitter crayons! I think that is when my fascination with glitter in my makeup began. So instead of buying the box of crayons I used to, these eyeliners are a great substitute. Plus, the colors are all really wearable.

2. Philosophy Apple $16

An apple is always associated with the school year. Either you brought one to school in your lunch, or you gave one to your favorite teacher, apples are a symbol of school time. So it’s only appropriate that this body wash is a substitute for the real thing. It truly smells like the perfect apple, crisp, juicy, and a little sweet. Definitely use this to start your day…it’ll make you smile thinking of your school days.

3. Stephanie Johnson Heart Cosmetic Bag $26

So you’ve already bought your pens, pencils, markers, colored pencils, you name it. Now where to keep all of them? In your stylin’ pencil case, of course! Well your makeup bag should be just as important because it holds all of your beauty supplies. This bag is my favorite.

4. Sephora Makeup Eraser Pen $12

This pen is great for anyone who makes makeup mistakes that need to be erased immediately. It’s similar to the old but timeless big pink eraser. This pen erases lipstick smudges just as well as your eraser made mistakes right again. This is so convenient for anyone who needs a quick fix. It’s not pink, but it’s still useful.
