What’s new and hot?

It’s that time right after the holidays where things seem to quiet down just a little.
No more stressing over what to buy relatives, no more worrying if you’re going to actually like what your friends bought for you, and no more purchases you were pressured into just so that you’d “have it just in case.”  It’s that time of year where you can go back to buying things just for you, just because you feel like it. Spring fashions are on your mind now, and companies are looking forward to selling you new and exciting things for the upcoming beauty season. And that’s where I come in! I can honestly say that I don’t have a "favorite" beauty brand. I do have companies that I am loyal to, for certain products, much like someone is loyal to a clothing brand that fits their body shape. So when I see new products being released by a large spread of brands, I’m not biased on what I choose. I like to try one of everything if I’m given the choice (and time to test them all out!). So this month, I’d like to share with you, my fellow cosmetic junkies, what’s new right now and what looks like it could become quite possibly a new cult favorite. Sit back, get your wish lists out, and enjoy!

Benefit Zaparella Collection

This collection of skincare products is adorable. With packaging adorned with a Wonder Woman look-a-like, the product names and comic book theme alone are enough to catch anyone’s attention. Zaparella is destined to save your skin, and fly to the rescue of any blemish that may pop up. I’ve had good experiences with Benefit’s skincare products in the past and I know that I am not going to be disappointed with these products.

I’d like to try Benefit Woosh ($18).  This is a  2% salicylic face wash that claims to neutralize breakouts. It’s a foam cleanser, that seems to be for oily to normal skin types. I love the packaging (this is a wash that I wouldn‘t be afraid to hide in my cabinet…I want to show it off!), and this wash looks pretty strong…definitely something I’d like to try when I’m having a less than glamorous skin day!
Stila Apres Midnight Collection

Although the name sounds reminiscent of dark, cozy nights by the fireplace, this collection is actually the opposite. With gold and silver shimmery whipped eye shadows, innocent pink blush, and sexy body shimmer, this collection is more metallic than anything you’d imagine that’s named midnight.
Stila Shadow Pots ($20). Any self-respecting beauty addict has realized by now
how amazing Stila’s eye shadows are. With a huge selection of colors to choose from, you can apply anything from a teal to a baby pink color. And to make this cosmetic situation even better, Stila has come out with the Shadow pots, a light whipped cream eye shadow in metallic shades. I tested out colors Moon and Silver, both shimmery white/silver shades. They are very similar in color, I noticed immediately, and they made my eyes pop! Love both shades…application is a little tricky (can’t fit my finger into the tiny pot) but a small eye shadow brush will do the trick. These are definitely going to be something I grab for daily in my makeup bag.
BlissLabs Haircare Collection

Bliss is famous for its life-changing facials, super-scrubbing shower scrubs, and heavenly bath soaks. But hair care? Who knew that they could master this beauty challenge as well? Scented as lemon and sage,
this shampoo and conditioner is going to be a new favorite in the beauty world.  With its famous blue packaging, the matching bottles are way cooler than any drugstore bought shampoo and conditioner…and work better as well.
BlissLabs Lemon and Sage Supershine Shampoo ($16).  You’ll gladly say good-bye to Suave after you get a whiff of this shampoo! Lemon and sage are said to calm nerves and are great aromatherapy. Who doesn’t need to relax in the shower right before work…and get shiny hair while you’re doing it? This shampoo will work for all hair types, and keep your hair nice and smooth. I love that Bliss is expanding its company to help my hair…now if only they would build a store in my hometown!
DuWop Buttercream Collection

Much like in fashion, once a style is a huge hit, along come the not-so-amazing knock offs. These are something I like to call “aftermath products.”  I use the word aftermath because they are the products that come after the trend. And anyone looking to purchase those body care products that smell like they’re just out of the oven, will come across the infamous “aftermath products.” Now, if you want a collection of products that not only smell amazing, but is one of the original lines that had the cake batter aroma, Duwop is your best bet. It is worth every penny…and you’ll know that you’re using something trendy, something that is not a knock off at all.  I am more than impressed with this line…and am happy to share this great find with you!

Duwop Buttercream Body Lotion ($17).  This is one of my favorite body lotions ever. I was very skeptical at first, the smell was lighter than I had imagined, not quite as sweet as other ones that I had tested. But after I applied it and wore it out of the house a few times, I was thankful that the smell wasn’t overpowering and overly sweet. It’s a bright yellow lotion that smells faintly salty to me…like buttered popcorn and Cinnabon, that store in the food court that smells like heaven.
