Best Of Beauty

October is one of my favorite months. Fall has always been my favorite season, making October a month that I always look forward to. As for the world of beauty,
fall is also important. Pumpkin picking inspires spicy scents and golden color palettes, nutmeg and the taste of Halloween candy evoke sweet smelling body washes. I could write all day about the fall trends I see in the beauty world on the runways, about the changing from recent summer colors and scents, and about the things that I am aching to try. But instead of all that, I wanted to pay tribute to something I also look forward to every year about this time. Allure magazine is known for their accurate spa reviews, their no-nonsense fashion articles, and their impressive beauty reports. This month Allure featured their once-yearly “Best Of Beauty Awards” written by experienced editors and women readers. Inspired by their choices and reviews, I’ve created my own beauty awards…Enjoy!

nars duo
1.Best new Mini-Palette: Nars Blush/Bronzer Duo $35

If you are going to carry one beauty product in your bag this fall, this should be the one. It holds the famous “Orgasm” blush, a shimmery pink that flatters just about everybody, as well as the bronzer in “Laguna”, a brown/bronze powder. One stroke of your blush brush and you will look flushed as well as tanned. This is worth the steep price for anybody who needs to look fab in five seconds flat.
2.Best Quick Fix: Sephora French Tips and Toes Manicure Pen $8

Quite simply, French manicures are tricky. Unless you have the time to go and get it done professionally once a week, or have a really steady hand, you’re out of luck. So when I came across this, I was really excited. For only $8 I can make my fingers look professionally done. It really works…it’s the same concept as white out, making it so simple to use. A definite winner because it made me go, “why didn’t I think of that?”

3.Best-Vacation-Away-From-Home Smell: Mountain Ocean Skin Trip (about $10)

The minute I came across this, I wanted to share my finding with somebody. It smells like fresh coconut and melts into your skin. I like using this all year round because of its light consistency. The smell reminds me of summer, which is great as it's getting cooler outside. This is a winner because I simply can’t get enough if it.
C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine
4.Best Flavored Lip Gloss: C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine $7.50

It’s hard to find a lipgloss that truly moisturizes lips as well as making them taste yummy. But I’ve found one! This lip shine tastes like minty fresh toothpaste (but sweeter) and makes lips glossy and not at all dry. The price is reasonable enough for buy a few if you find it as addictive as I do.
5.Best Way to Create a Smoky Eye: CARGO SmokyEye Brush $32

For those of you who are like me and like the smoky eye style, this brush has just changed everything. Forget about using a regular eyeshadow brush, and also forget
about having to use your finger to create this look. This brush is made of soft sable hair, and is the perfect size to smudge, line, and dab color accordingly. Definitely a winner because I don’t know how I survived without it!
