To me, the beauty world and the fashion world are partners. Without each other, they would both be gone. This thought may seem drastic, but if you think about it, they influence each other. Makeup artists create their “styles” on models according to their clothing, and many great fashion designers are influenced by women and their unique beauty regimes. Both makeup and fashion play off of each other, creating trends, and helping women see how they can change or improve their looks. Simply put, I am very excited about this falls/winter trends, and how they are influencing the beauty world. Packaging is becoming more detailed and accessorized (sometimes accessories itself) , and the product colors are in tune to the fashion trends, making choosing a shade for my new outfit easier. So this month I would like to point out a few fall trends that I want, need, have to have…in the beauty world of course.
Tweed has replaced the basic black in the fashion world. But in the beauty world, it has transformed packaging from boring cardboard containers to an accessory that you may not even want to hide in your handbag. This palette has gorgeous fall/winter colors for your eyes and a peachy shade for your cheeks. So rich and dainty.
There’s just something about a skull being on a makeup palette that I like. Maybe it’s that it makes it seem edgy and tough. Maybe it sends off vibes that makeup can be crazy and not always practical, that there’s more to beauty than pastels. Whatever it is, skulls seem to be the hottest accessory from pins to this palette.
The metallic trend doesn’t seem to be dying down, it seems to be expanding. From summer metallic colors such as pink and blue, it went straight to fall rich hues such as gold and bronze. This pretty bottle is a jewel in the classic Burberry print, in a metallic gold of course. Not to mention that the smell is a perfect fall/winter sophiscated scent.
The cashmere trend is a cycle. Some years cashmere is only worn in the coldest places for lack of a warmer fabric, and some years it is hotter than the newest Chanel bag with a waiting list. Luckily this year cashmere is in full swing. And how does this translate into the beauty world? Givenchy has come out with an elegant cashmere case to store your makeup brushes in. It doesn’t get more luxurious than this.
Layering done correctly can be functional yet stylish. I love the look of layering, it creates such a put-together with no effort look. Same goes for makeup, well, mascara at least. While you’re layering your camis and thermals, your eyes should be having fun with this trend too. This mascara is great because one side is your practical black, while the other is a fun colored shade. Layer both colors for the best effect.
