Lip Envy

I’ve been reading way too many tabloids and seeing way too many girls around Los Angeles with gorgeous, full lips. No doubt Angelina made full lips sexier than ever, causing women everywhere to try and replicate (with varying results) her look.

I have lip envy.

My lips are not bad, but lately I’ve been staring at my face after doing my makeup in the morning with some dissatisfaction. I keep thinking, "I’ve done so much on my eyes, hollowed out my cheeks with blusher, and contoured with bronzer, but my lips look like an afterthought….”

In my search for great lip plumpers, I wasn’t going for the over-plumped collagen look.
My mission: to find the lip treatments that give a nice boost to natural lips without looking like duck lips, or Jessica Simpson’s mug on www.awfulplasticsurgery.com.

Here’s what I found and liked...

I adore this lightweight version of     DuWop’s Lip Venom. It numbs a bit,   but lips look glossy, perfect, and   brilliantly bee-stung. This is great just   as a gloss and gives a kick to the lips sans major pain and extreme tingling. There are a number of ingredients that give lips serious moisturizing like jojoba and avocado oils on top of it. My favorite color is Snowberry…the darkest shade of red in the tube but sheer and naturally gorgeous once on my lips.
This one burns for about ten minutes after application and then feels sort of like you’re recovering from Novocain. “Capsicum Fructencens”, a derivative of chili peppers, is the main ingredient, which makes from some serious lip plumping action. It definitely works so well…this is for the girl who has always dreamed of full lips but wasn’t blessed with them naturally. My lips were full, pouty, and pink for a full six hours. Lip Injection comes in a number of colors, but I actually found the clear to be the most believable bee-stung look. For me, it is the closest I will get to having Angelina’s gorgeous lips.
I cave in the face of adorably packaged makeup. Pop Beauty makes some of the greatest colors and wraps them up in the most adorably bright and cheery little bottles and compacts. The little bottle is very user-friendly and the distinctive, yet compact, shape was easy to find as I was digging through my purse. More importantly, the cinnamon essential oil that is key to the lip plumping action was not irritating, but pretty pleasant. I really enjoyed the tingle and ended up with a nice pouty lip that was natural. I like Rosy Sting as a great option for girls in search of the lip gloss that is really YLBB.
This definitely tingled the most of the glosses, but the results were impressive and most importantly, long lasting.  The lip plumping mix of camphor and menthol burns, but it goes away within five minutes, leaving you with some seriously plump lips. The shimmer-free gloss is clear and does double duty as crazy lip plumper and well-moisturizing gloss. I think what I loved so much about this one was that my lips really looked like I had put on my usual clear gloss, but with the extra kick I was looking for.
